Local Republicans Host Kashkari, Get Unexpected Guests

Early this morning (Sunday 11/2) about 25 local Republicans turned out to hear a talk by Neel Kashkari, their candidate for Governor of California, held at the Republican Headquarters on Mangrove Ave. in Chico.  But, unbeknownst to the Republicans, the local Democrats got wind of the visit and showed up, walking down from their headquarters 3 blocks away, also on Mangrove Ave. The Demos. carried signs in support of Jerry Brown and local city council candidates, Scott Gruendl, Forough Maria Molina and Lupe Arim-Law.  The Repubs. were not happy, to say the least, and some came out to see what was going on.  After Mr. Kashkari left, and while local Democrat, Bob Mulholland, was being interviewed by a local media person, some of the Republican supporters tried to jam themselves into the picture by holding their signs in front of the Democrats’ signs.  Here’s the story in photos:

Huge Water “Transfer” Deals a Possibility

The dreadful possibility of huge water “transfers” is upon us. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation’s 10-Year Water Transfer Plan is up for public comment.  According to AquAlliance, this plan seeks to transfer up to 600,000 acre-feet per year from the North State to desert agriculture in the southwestern San Joaquin Valley. The 10-year water transfer total is equivalent to what a city the size of Chico would use in 200 years. Please attend this important water meeting and show your support for AquAlliance when they “disclose all the vulnerabilities” in the Bureau’s Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Report.  And vote NO on Proposition 1 – the bad out-weighs the good!

If you like to drink water, if you like to water your garden, if you like to take a dip in the cool waters of our local creeks in the hot summer, if you have a well, then you need to be at this meeting, see below.

If you can’t attend the meeting then please show your support by making a donation to AquAlliance. They may have to file a lawsuit to stop the water transfers, and lawsuits cost a lot of money.
