The Leaf Catcher

_MG_9451Park-leaf fallThe Leaf Catcher

I caught a leaf today.

A gust of wind

shook the old oak

and blew the last few

leaves down.

Arms up,

hands cupped,

I ran to meet it

in mid air.

its puzzle shape

rested in my palm.

I held the morning’s wind,

the old oak’s letting go,

the season’s message

from the sky.

I caught a leaf today.

(and then I let it go)

  1. A lovely look at fall through the eyes of a poet. The leaves die each fall and each one becomes a flower, just as Camus said.
